Scio Township Will Consider Medical Marijuana Regulations

Scio Township officials will consider a set of regulations allowing medical marijuana as a home occupation within township limits.

As outlined in the draft ordinance language, these establishments are not to advertise themselves as a “clinic,” “hospital,” or “dispensary.” Essentially operators of such establishments are not to advertise themselves as any sort of multi-patient facility.

While most of the regulations stipulated in the ordinance are base requirements to have permits for various things and to not produce more sewage than is allowable in a single-family home, several aspects of the ordinance are designed to keep medical marijuana behind the scenes.

“These regulations are designed to allow the creation and maintenance of a private and confidential patient-caregiver relationship,” the ordinance reads.

This and other topics detailed in the below meeting agenda and packet for the 7 p.m. regular meeting which will be held at 827 N. Zeeb Road.
