In addition to the Scio Township Board of Trustees hearing from the Western Washtenaw Area Value Express (WAVE) bus service regarding contract renewal and potentially adding a second bus to the overall service provision for the township, a number of other issues were on the table for vote and discussion.
In a 6-0 vote (Green absent), trustees approved authorizing site grading and site preparation work at 240 Metty Drive for Rave Associates, The company is using precast concrete walls which must be constructed and shipped in, and Township Supervisor Spaulding Clark described the action as “an accommodation for those precast walls.”
To avoid disrupting the schedule, Rave Associates sought approval to start preliminary work so that the site is ready for the walls when they arrive.
The land in question consists of five acres that are currently vacant. Rave Associates is proposing the construction of a 54,400 square foot storage facility along with a parking lot with 58 spaces.
In other action, trustees in a 6-0 vote (Green absent) authorized the township board’s initiation of an Act 188 of 1954 to begin the process of improving roads and drainage in the Liberty Hills subdivision and adjacent properties, located at the Southeast corner of Liberty Road and Zeeb Road.
Although the drainage problem has been improved in part, there are still back ups from an adjacent, non-subdivision property, which must be incorporated within the special assessment district to satisfactorily address drainage issues affecting subdivision roads.
The board will hold a hearing at its July 28 meeting to about establishing a special assessment district if the work is to proceed.
