Boys and girls from across Washtenaw County who have the heart of a Lion filled with love for the sport of football will have a golden opportunity in Manchester next month at a Detroit Lions camp for Washtenaw children.
The Detroit Lions Summer Football Camps are coming to Manchester High School on Saturday, June 11 and Sunday June 12 from 8:30 a.m. to noon each day.
“Summer is right around the corner and we want to help keep your kids active and learning by offering this positive and engaging camp experience that focuses not only on developing their football skills, but also on the skills necessary to be successful in the classroom and in the community.,” said Colby Lufkin, a member of the program.
The “fundamentals mini-camp” entails non-contact football basics instruction with an emphasis on American football’s “heads up” blocking and tackling methods. Skill contests and scrimmages will be held. The event will have a 10:1 athlete to coach ratio, ensuring quality training time with plenty of effective instruction and guidance.
Those special boys and girls who love the Lions will also be in for a treat when a current or former member of the team makes an appearance during the camp.
Those who sign up for the program will also receive two tickets to a 2016 Detroit Lions home pre-season game and a Lions Camp t-shirt.
Participants must be ages 6 to 14.
