A Huge Effort To Help People

Dexter United Methodist Church (DUMC) will be hosting their annual Fall Rummage Sale Sept 29 & 30. The much anticipated event begins Friday at 8:30am until 6:00pm and resumes Saturday at 8:30am ending at high noon.

For two days in Autumn (and again in Spring) the church turns their expansive lawn into an outdoor bazaar of great discoveries, food and fun for all ages. More of a fall festival than a rummage sale, it has become a popular tradition that area residents have enjoyed now for years.

Known for their commitment to missions, DUMC uses all of the projected $12,000 to $15,000 raised to support the underserved here in our own community, and other parts of the U.S., as well as other countries with a heavy emphasis on construction projects such as home repair.

“It’s a great way for people to convert unused items into charitable help for people who could use a helping hand,” noted one church member.

NOTE: Item drop off begins this Sunday, Sept 24, at 1:00pm and ends Tuesday at 6:00pm sharp. Please, only working items in good repair.

And one last word; kids love it. The playground will keep them busy while you browse, but they also have a lot of fun browsing along with you. You know, memories et al.

The Rummage Sale is a herculean effort by an army of dedicated volunteers, which characterizes so much of the church’s personality in all their work. People like to help people. It’s a great vibe that is quickly evident when you’re around them.

Experience it for yourself. There’s a good reason Dexter United Methodist’s events such as their Rummage Sales have become so popular.
