Hockey season preview: Dreadnaughts off to a hot start on the ice

The Dexter hockey team has skated off to an impressive 7-2 on the season which is a substantial improvement from last season.

“We have had stellar goaltending from freshman goaltender Kris Eberly which has given us a chance to win every game thus far,” said Dexter Coach Donnie Busdeker. “The addition of junior Logan Eggleston has pumped new life into our offense and has made players around him better.

“We work hard in everything we do so I will expect to continue to get better with a strong emphasis in player development.”

Overall, the program is moving in the right direction.

“We are building a foundation in which players will be able to develop in for a long time to come,” Busdeker said. “Our work is never done and we will continue to push to be better each day.”

Dexter finished 8-16-1 last season and fourth in the SEC White Division.
“The team has worked extremely hard in the off season to develop both on and off the ice,” Busdeker said. “The players have put in the work to develop their hockey skills and worked to get faster/stronger in the off season. There is a very tight bond in the locker room which has led to the good start. We will continue to hold each other accountable, develop and work hard in everything that we do.”

The Dreadnaughts are still a fairly young team so expect some growing pains.
“We will work through it,” Busdeker said. “All of the new players have embraced their roles quickly and have been able to adapt at a fairly good rate. We need to continue to learn each day and adapt to adversity that we overcome. And we need to stay healthy.”
