Golf: Dreadnaughts finish eighth at D-2 Regionals

The Dexter girls’ golf team shot a team score of 425 to finish eighth at the D-2 Regionals (10) at Fenton Farms GC in Fenton.

St. Johns took first with a score of 348 followed by Fenton (354) and Okemos (365). The top three teams qualified for the D-2 state finals.

The top three individual golfers from non-qualifying teams also earn a spot at the state championship on Oct. 20-21. Elaina DeRose from DeWitt (76), Claudia Vondra from Mason (80) and Payton Leedle from Linden (87) were the top three individual qualifiers.

The Dreadnaughts were consistent with their five players shooting within 11 shots of one another. Senior Courtney Palkowski led the Dreads with a 104 followed by sophomore Caitlin Kimmel (105), senior Mackenzie James (106), sophomore Gabby Napolitan (110) and junior Mackenzie Gordon (115).
