Dexter’s Trevor Omer receives Honor Grad from Marines

Trevor Omer, a 2013 graduate of Dexter High School, was recently honored as an Honor Grad with the United States Marine Corp. Omer was named Honor Grad from his platoon of about 25 Marines and honored last month at Fort Leonard Wood, an Army installation located in the Missouri Ozarks also used by the Marines.
.
“Trevor had the highest GPA in his class,” said his recruiting officer, GySgt Papple. “He graduated from boot camp at Parris Island (SC) on Aug. 11. He shot expert on the rifle range and ran a first class physical fitness test at all of his locations.”

After Parris Island, PFC Omer went to Camp Geiger for infantry training and then on to Fort Leonard Wood for MOS training.

Omer, the son of Dennis and Michelle, is a reserve Marine requiring him to work one weekend a month and two weeks out of the year.

Trevor will be heading back to Northern Michigan University to finish his BA in Fisheries and Wildlife Management. He took some time off to join the Marines.
