Dexter student wins Palmer Insurance’s Thankfulness Writing Contest

Lia Alexandra DeMerell was selected as the winner of the Palmer Insurance’s Thankfulness Writing Contest.

Lia is a sixth grader at Creekside Intermediate School in Mrs. Jane Webby’s classroom. Lia’s essay included her appreciation of her interactions with all living things. She included, “But I still strongly believe that to be thankful for something you can’t just love it. It has to have meant something to you. You have to have learned or changed from it too.”

“Lia’s thankful spirit was evident in her writing,” stated Paula Palmer Burns, President of Palmer Insurance. “We are thrilled to have selected her essay and to be presenting her with the prize.”
This was the first year of the writing contest.

Palmer Insurance expects this to be an annual event.

“We have so much to be thankful for,” Palmer Burns added. “We are honored to include Dexter students in our celebration of gratitude.”
