Dexter lacrosse players sticking to sport in college

Success of a high school program is measured in many ways. But one of the best ways is how many players take their game to the next level. For the Dexter boys’ lacrosse team, that success is off the charts.
Here is a look at the Dexter players heading to college with a lacrosse stick in their backpacks.

Playing college lacrosse:

Carson Howatt – Midfield – Captain- 2016 All-Conference. Howatt will be studying education or sports management at Baldwin Wallace. He is a hockey captain for Dexter. 3.1 GPA. Coach for youth lacrosse.

Nick Greca – Attack – 2016 All-Conference. Greca will be studying business at Moravian college. Versatile player having played attack, midfield and faced off for the Dreads. Top 3 in points for the team. Coach for youth lacrosse and is a designer for the school newspaper.

Brandon Wright – Midfield – 2016 Honorable Mention. Wright was hockey captain, IB track, Dexter Young Life, 4.05 (weighted) GPA – NHS, top 3 in conference for faceoffs with 75 percent win rate. Will Attend Kalamazoo College on the neuroscience track next year.

Nate Skinner – LSM. Skinner also will be attending Moravian college next year on the pre-med/ biology track. He is a NHS member and has a 3.7 GPA. Nate is the team comedian as well.

Nick Palson – Attack – Captain. Palson is top three on team in points. He will be studying pre-med/nursing at Concordia University in Ann Arbor. Nick is a youth coach and scholarship winner through Dexter lacrosse.

Jack Koenn – Attack. Koenn will be attending Monmouth College in the fall to study history and political science. Jack is a youth coach for Dexter.

Playing club lacrosse:

Billy Chesbrough – Goalie – Captain. Chesbrough was a 2016 All-Conference player for the Dreadnaughts. He had a 3.95 GPA, played varsity tennis, IB track, NHS. He will be attending U-M in the fall studying PPE (philosophy, politics and economics).

Randy Gessel – Midfield – Gessel was a 2016 All-Conference player for the Dreadnaughts. He had 3.85 GPA. Randy is IB, NHS, and a three sport varsity athlete (lacrosse, water polo and basketball). He is going to attend Louisville and study engineering.

Nick D’Oria – Defense – D’Oria was involved with Dexter High School band and marching band. He will attend Eastern Michigan in the fall and plans to study computer science.

Will Liskiewicz – Defense – Captain. Liskiewicz will attend WCC in the fall with plans to study business. He is a student leader with young life as well,

Jed Howell – Defense – Captain. Howell will attend GVSU in the fall (likely will walk on to lacrosse team) and plans to study business and entrepreneurship. He had a 3.2 GPA and was involved in the school newspaper
