Dexter High School Varsity Dance Team 2015-2016 is already preparing for another successful competition and performance season

Under the coaching of Amanda France, the 10 members of the DHS Varsity Dance Team have spent the summer conditioning, practicing routines, and learning new competition choreography for the upcoming school year. Six of the returning Varsity members were part of last year’s Varsity team which made it all the way to the Semi-Final round of the Universal Dance Association (UDA) National Dance Team Championships in Orlando, Florida. The team is already looking towards this season’s Nationals again in Orlando, which are held in January.

In addition to Nationals, the team competes in Regional UDA events held throughout the season at high schools in Southeast Michigan.

As in past years, the Varsity Dance Team will continue to perform on the sidelines at all home Varsity Football games, and perform a choreographed routine on the field at halftime. During the Varsity Basketball season, the team also performs a routine at halftime on the court. The Dance Team’s season concludes with a competition held at the University of Michigan’s Crisler Center in March.

Performing isn’t all the team does, however. The girls have participated in cheer stations for the Susan G. Komen 3-day Breast Cancer Walk, volunteered time boothsitting at the Ann Arbor Art Fair, and taught young dancer clinics during both football and basketball seasons.

Here’s wishing the team a wonderfully successful season ahead! Go Dreads! Dance Strong!
