Dexter Churches Being Offered Security Training By Michigan State Police

The Michigan State Police (MSP) want to remind us that recent events serve as important reminders that we must remain vigilant and aware of the important role we play in keeping our communities safe.

The MSP Training Academy is presenting a one-day seminar on security issues in places of worship. This course will include a number of segments presented by members of the Michigan State Police who specialize in those areas. The course is ideal for clergy and others who are involved or may become involved in maintaining security at their facilities.

Class size is limited and registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. To attend, complete and return the registration form below by Friday, Dec. 1.

The following topics will be covered:

  • Physical campus security issues
  • Importance of a safety and security team
  • Setting up a criminal history background check for non-profits (ICHAT)
  • Policies, procedures, and legal aspects
  • Identifying and handling suspicious or dangerous people
  • Critical incident readiness for places of worship

Registration deadline is Friday, December 1, 2017 Time: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Cost: $100 (Includes lunch and materials) Class Size: Limited to 200 students
