Thieves nicked a laptop and loose change from two vehicles at the 7400 block of N. Pinefield Dr. in Dexter after breaking into the victim’s garage overnight on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Both vehicles were unlocked.
Loose change was the loot of choice again in another case of vehicle theft at the 7100 block of N. Meadows Trail, Wednesday, Nov. 8. This vehicle was also left unlocked, making it easy for the crook to break-in.
The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department has no suspects in either incident at this time.
Erratic driving led to a number of reported crimes last week including two DUI charges.
On Friday, Nov. 10, at 4:45 p.m., police were sent to the area near N. Lima Center Road and Island Lake Drive to investigate a vehicle parked on the side of the road. Once onsite, deputies discovered the driver, a 34-year-old male from Chelsea, passed out in the front seat.
When questioned, the driver admitted to drinking and a field sobriety test confirmed his statement. He was taken to the hospital for a blood draw, but was not arrested. No other vehicles or persons were involved.
A second DUI incident occurred in Scio on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 5:25 p.m. near S. Staebler Road and Park Road. At the time of publish, the police report for this incident was incomplete and no further details were available.
Property owners at the 7100 block of Dexter Pinckney Road, found their mailbox and trash cans struck down last Tuesday evening. Authorities assume this resulted from a car going off the road but are unsure whether or not this incident occurred of malicious intent or not as it was not discovered until long after the driver was gone.
