Boys Lacrosse: 11 returning seniors have Dreads aiming high

Dexter boys’ lacrosse coach Jordan Sorkin hopes to improve on last year’s solid 12-8 record, including 4-2 in the conference.

Sorkin, now in his third year with the program, believes the Dreadnaughts have the talent and experience to take that next step.

“We need to use the clock and be aggressive behind a group of 11 returning seniors,” said Sorkin.

Dexter won the Sportsmanship award as a team and had three players named All-Conference last season. Back from a year ago are seniors Randy Gesell (midfielder, Academic All-Conference and team leader last year in points with 74); Nick Greca (midfielder, All-Conference Honorable Mention with 50 points last season); Billy Chesbrough (goalie and captain, All-Conference Honorable Mention last season); Carson Howatt (midfielder and captain, No. 2 in points last year); Brandon Wright (midfielder, best faceoff man on the team and a dynamic two-way player); and Jed Howell (defense and captain).

Top young players include sophomores Ryan Lotz (attack), who Sorkin calls the “the future of the program,” and Mason Loudermilk (midfield, a varsity letter winner last year who has great speed).
