The Dexter baseball team improved to 7-2 on the season with a double-header sweep of host Pinckney on Friday afternoon.
The day started with a solid 5-4 win in the opener. The Dreads built a 4-1 lead after scoring three runs in the top of the third inning. But the Pirates tied the game at 4-4 when they scored three runs in of their own in the bottom of the sixth.
Dexter scored a run in the top of the seventh and shut down the Pirates in the bottom of the inning to nail down the victory.
Senior Grant Katcher had a pair of hits for the host Dreadnaughts. Stewie Webber had two RBI, Cam Milne had a hit and an RBI and Seth Jaimez also knocked in a run for the winners.
Caden Koenig started and went five innings. Ryan Flattery pitched the final two to earn the win.
After falling behind 2-1 after one inning, the Dreads took the lead early in the second game and never looked back in the nightcap. Dexter scored three in the second to take the lead and then blew it open with a five-run fourth inning.
The Dreads completed the sweep with a 10-3 win.
Joey Hiser had a big day at the plate with a hit and three RBI for the Dreads. Hiser had four quality at-bats while Milne and Rojeck each had three.
Tommy McWilliams got the start and delivered the win, pitching four solid innings.
Dexter hosts Ypsilanti on Monday and Columbia Central (DH) on Wednesday. The Dreads will play two at Howell on Saturday.
