Dexter had trouble putting away Ann Arbor Huron on Saturday, but eventually pulled off a 7-6 win over the River Rats after breaking a 6-6 tie with a run in the top of the seventh.
Despite falling down by four runs in the second inning, Huron battled back to tie the game.
Dexter took an early lead in the first inning when Joey Hiser singled on a 0-1 count in the first inning, scoring one run. After Dexter scored three runs in the top of the second, Huron answered with three of their own.
Dexter scored when R.J. Lawson singled, driving in one run and Hiser doubled to drive in two more Dreadnaughts.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Huron tied things up at 6-6.
Ryan Flattery earned the win for Dexter. He tossed one and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs, one hit, striking out one, and walking zero.
Ryan Schoch started the game for Dexter. He went four innings, giving up four runs, seven hits, striking out three, and walking one.
Dexter had 14 hits on the day. Lawson, David Kreske, Mack Martin, Hiser, and Matt Sinelli each collected multiple hits for the Dreads. Hiser had three RBI and Lawson had two steals.
Huron collected 10 hits.
Earlier in the day, Dexter beat Pioneer 12-7 in a shootout. The Dreads broke the game open with 10 runs in the fourth inning.
In the bottom of the third inning, Pioneer tied things up at two.
Dexter took the lead for good with 10 runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth there was an error, scoring three runs, Hiser singled, driving in one run, David Kreske doubled to drive in two more. Tyler Valentine singled, driving in one run, Flattery singled, driving in one run, Harris singled, driving in one run, and there was an error, scoring one run.
Ryan Moore earned the win for Dexter. He tossed two and a third innings, surrendering three runs, and two hits. Drake Doyle recorded the last 14 outs to earn the save.
Harris, Kreske, Hiser, and Grant Stehley each collected multiple hits for the Dreads. Harris, Drew Bielas, Hiser, and Kreske each drove in two runs to lead Dexter.
