Dexter Community School Board recognized four students with certificates of achievement for being selected into the All State Ensembles. Band Director Andy Damman explains, “Each year thousands of students across Michigan audition for a spot in one of two bands, either the middle school band or the high school band.”

Dexter students that were accepted are high schooler Julia Klein (clarinet) in the 12th grade and three middle school students in the 8th grade – Abbie Van Noord (flute), Ben Ladd (percussion), and Claire Janssen (clarinet).

“Since the start of the All-State Honors bands 12 years ago, Dexter has had a history of students being accepted into the groups,” says Dammon. “The Dexter music program has been very successful lately all the way from our solo and ensembles to our music festivals…There’s a lot to be proud of.”

If you would like to experience first-hand Dexter Band programs, the 40 th Band Extravaganza will take place Sunday, March 26 at 1 PM in the high school gym. You can find more information at https://sites.google.com/a/dexterschools.org/band/.
