Around Town: Things to do in Dexter Feb. 27-March 5

While February is closing out pretty darn chilly, March has to be a signal that spring is on it’s way! Beat the cold and welcome the change of season with these fun local events going on Feb. 27 to March 5.

Friday, Feb. 27

Fish Fry: Head down to the Knights of Columbus Banquet Hall for their weekly Lenten Fish Fry Fridays. The dinner lasts from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and features an all-you-can-eat buffet. Tickets are$10 for adults, $6 for children and $9 for takeout meals.

Saturday, Feb. 28

Airplane Day: Join in the fight against extreme poverty with the Dexter High School ONE Club. The evening will feature speakers, games, petition signing and more.The event starts at 6 p.m. at Foggy Bottom Coffee House and all donations go toward the UN’s Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves.

Artistica Gallery: The local artists’ collective is celebrating their seventh anniversary with light refreshments, demonstrations and and the introduction of their newest co-owner. The event goes from 5 to 8 p.m. at Artistica Gallery, 3203 Broad St.

Monday, March 2

International Student: Ever consider hosting an international student? Learn the ins and outs of the process from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Dexter High School Media Center.

Tuesday, March 3

First Tuesday Lego Club: Children 4-years-old and up are invited to get their creative juices flowing with LEGOs at the Dexter District Library. The events starts at 4 p.m. and all are welcome. LEGOs will be provided by the library.

Wednesday, March 4

Washtenaw Literacy Volunteer Recruitment: Approximately one in every eight adults in Washtenaw County can’t read or write. Stop by the Dexter District Library and learn about how you can help local literacy efforts at 7 p.m.
