Stomp Out Sarcoma Fun Run/Walk at Hudson Mills Set For July 15

Now in its 11th year, the Stomp Out Sarcoma Fun Run/Walk is raising money  to support critical research and clinical care performed at the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center.

The event will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, Michigan. Registration will begin at 8:00 am and the event will begin at 9:00am.

The run/walk is designed to bring community together with healthcare professionals and patients to support one cause – fighting sarcoma.

Sarcoma is a rare connective tissue malignancy (cancer) that affects people of all ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, races, and ethnicities. Sarcomas make up about 1% of all adult cancers. Due to this rarity, patients can often feel isolated after being diagnosed and throughout treatment.

Stomp Out Sarcoma was started by a group of health care providers in the Sarcoma Clinic at the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center to raise awareness about this rare disease and to provide support to patients, families, caregivers, and friends affected by sarcoma. All proceeds from the fun run/walk will go to the Sarcoma Clinical Research Fund at the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center, to help researchers and clinicians better understand this disease and find more effective treatments.

The goal this year is to raise a record amount of $50,000 for research. The suggested fund-raising for each participant starts at $100.
