Five Foods to Eat for More Energy

The latest from Dexter Wellness Center‘s Cheri McLean:

Exercise and diet are essential for healthy living. During National Nutrition Month®, it’s important to focus on the foods that provide the best benefits for your body. Here are five healthy options to boost your energy:

Quinoa

Get the ultimate energy boost with this nutrient-rich grain. Quinoa contains protein, amino acids, folate, magnesium, phosphorous and manganese. This source of healthy carbs will provide long-lasting energy.

Eggs

Having eggs for breakfast helps you to stay full and provides energy. Eggs contain protein and heart healthy fatty acids to give you a morning boost.

Bananas

Get an instant pick-me-up with bananas. This sweet fruit is easy to take on the go, filling, and contains glucose to give you energy.

Blueberries

These small fruits pack a powerful punch. Blueberries are high in fiber and antioxidants. Add them to a variety of meals for a healthy energy boost at any time of day.

Water

Dehydration is a major cause of feeling sluggish and tired. Dehydration can also cause us to believe we’re hungry. Commit to drinking the recommended amount for water for your body each day to combat fatigue.
